The facelifted BMW X5 and X6 were introduced earlier this month, and now we get to see the M Competition versions due out in April this year. In the United States, an X5 M Competition will set you back at least $123,295, while an X6 M Competition will cost from $128,195.
Both M SUVs utilize the same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, which now receives assistance from a 9-kW electric motor. The motor is integrated into the eight-speed A/T and increases the torque by around 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) when it counts. The combined performance of this setup stays unchanged from the previous generation, though: 625 PS (616 hp / 460 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque.
The company claims that the electric add-on lets the drivers get faster launch times and save fuel at the same time. Specifically, both need 3.7 seconds for their sprint from zero to 97 km/h (60 mph). The electronic speed limit is at 250 km/h (155 mph) by default, but you could opt for the Driver’s Package to lift the bar to 285 km/h (177 mph).
