Swiss tuners reveal new BMW X5 M50d styling kit

The luxury-laden BMW X5 M50d seems to have both the famous name and the power-packed diesel engine, all in one package. The Switzerland-based car tuning atelier DS Automobil & Autowerke still though it didn’t look quite posh enough without a uniquely designed body kit.

In the end, the BMW X5 M50d left the works with a wide-body kit by Hamann. The vehicle looks moody and aggressive, an impression emphasized by design wheels clad in large-diameter tires and the jet-black body lacquering.

The aerodynamic package includes a reworked front bumper with niches cut out for the headlights and fog lamps, a rear bumper with an in-built diffusor, a two-section splitter, raised door sills and black twin exhaust pipes.

The only technical modification the atelier cared to mention concerns the engine chip tuning. The engineers have managed to improve the performance of the stock 3.0-liter V6 engine from 381 hp (284 kW) to 462 hp (345 kW). No acceleration times are supplied, but it is obvious that the car is now faster and agiler than before.

With the next-generation BMW X5 G05 SUV unveiled the other day, the DS Automobil & Autowerke team will likely have their hands tied. Since the vehicle looks practically identical to its antecedent, many buyers would want to personalize it at least somewhat.
