The development of BMW’s flagship 6 Series crossover SUV, the X6 M, is in full swing. The official world premiere is still far away, but these leaked images still enable us to take a closer glimpse at the main features of the car.
Overall, the souped-up X6 looks positively aggressive. The main highlights include a sporty front bumper with a massive air intake in the middle, narrow-slit headlights, a muscular hood cover and a larger radiator grille.
Air intake louvers can be seen on the front fenders, and there are vents in the rear bumper as well. The taillights are styled similarly to those of the latest 8 Series, and there is a factory spoiler, as well as a bulky rear diffuser.
The cabin remains a mystery so far, though. Industry pros tend to agree that it will share the principal design features with the X5 and house a 12.3-inch digital dash next to the same-sized infotainment display.
Driver aids will likely include a lane keep/change assist, as well as an adaptive cruise control feature.
The engine palette will also probably be borrowed from the X5 series. This would mean a choice between a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine rated at 335 hp (250 kW) and 447 Nm (330 lb×ft) of torque and a 4.4-liter V8 with 456 hp (340 kW) and 650 Nm (480 lb×ft). The former will take the car from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in about 5.3 seconds, while the latter will accomplish the same in around 4.6 seconds.
