BMW continues testing its X6 facelift. Motor1 believes the latest batch of spy shots depicts an M60i spec coming to replace the current M50i and introduce the 6-Series to a powerful V8 previously only found in the 7-Series.
There is still no premiere date. Motor1 admits the only reason to think the M60i gets a V8 is a new exhaust system seen on the photos. The BMW 760i comes powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 544 PS (536 hp / 400 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. The manufacturer may tone down the output of the same engine to put it under the hood of the upcoming coupe-like X6. Even with the dialed-down power, the mill may outperform the current X6 M50i spec (see video) with its 530 PS (523 hp / 390 kW). Eight-speed A/T and AWD are par for the course.
On the outside, the new X6 sports slimmer headlights, different taillight patterns and redesigned bumpers. A “digital cockpit” and a new gear selector are the likeliest interior modifications to come. Motor1 adds that the vehicle will debut later this year in all three main specs: standard, M Performance, and full-fledged BMW M.
