Rumors have been circulating lately that BMW is working on the X8, its largest coupe/SUV on the lineup. The car might get a hybrid performance version.
While not official, multiple sources have stated that the X8 M45e will ship with a hybrid powertrain based on a six-cylinder turbo engine. Similar existing models generally produce around 400 hp (300 kW) and 540 Nm (400 lb-ft) of torque, but this new M might be considerably better-specced.
The alleged X8 would inherit the chassis and tech from the X7, but the design differences between the two would be far more pronounced than those between the X3 and X4, or X5 and X6, the rumor claims. Among other things, the X8 would have an entirely new front end design.
Whatever the case, even if the BMW X8 is true, we will likely not know until closer to its official reveal, which should happen in either late 2020 or early 2021.
