BMW XM teaser confirms debut on September 27

Mark your calendars, folks: BMW’s first M-badged electrified SUV – the XM – will officially hit the spotlight on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. A short teaser vid should give you an idea what its hybrid-V8 powertrain sounds like.

The footage also shows the outlines of the radiator grille, the daytime running lights and the individual headlamps. All in all, it looks like the company has stuck to the original design introduced via the XM Concept a while ago.

It is already known that the car uses a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 for propulsion, which receives assistance from an electric motor. The concept was capable of 750 PS (740 hp / 552 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque, but the production car will come out in multiple variants. The first one to ship will be called XM 50e and pack 653 PS (644 hp / 480 kW) and 800 Nm (790 lb-ft) of torque. Its all-electric range is EPA-rated at 48 kilometers, or 30 miles. Later on, a rumored top spec called Black Label may debut with the same specifications as the original concept.

The production will take place at the BMW factory in South Carolina, USA. Prices in Europe will start in the area of €110,000 – €120,000.
