Retro cars are so popular nowadays that even their replicas fetch good money from time to time. Case in point: this AC Cobra lookalike with BMW Z3 underpinnings.
The exterior may offend feelings of AC and BMW fans alike, because it is really something in between. The proportions are off, and while the front end may look more or less convincing (especially the three-quarters view), the sides and the rear leave much to be desired. Still, one has to give credit to Classic Coachworks for the professionally executed job. There are no rough seams in view, the bodywork flows harmonically, and there is a single panel used for the hood and the front fenders. You might find something as difficult to fabricate as that on the likes of the Lamborghini Huracan STO, which says much about this replica.
Put up for auction with $178,000 kilometers (110,000 miles) under its belt and a buy-it-now price of €7,950, the Cobra Tribute Car quickly managed to find a new owner. According to the listing, they will probably need to replace some of the interior trim and brush up the exterior a bit, too, but the drivetrain should be just fine.
