We have seen quite a few upgrades for the range-topping BMW Z4 M40i already, while its younger sibling – the sDrive30i – hardly enjoyed any aftermarket attention at all. Luckily, DTE Systems just remedied the situation with the launch of an ECU tune for the model.
As you probably know, BMW has switched its entire 30i line from six- to four-cylinder engines, which naturally didn’t go smoothly in terms of performance. In particular, the 2.0-liter inline-four of the BMW Z4 sDrive30i only churns out a meager 258 hp (192 kW) along with 400 Nm (295 lb×ft) of torque. Once upgraded with the DTE Systems chip, it ascends to a more palatable 282 hp (210 kW) and 466 Nm (344 lb×ft).
Now, you may be justified in thinking the difference isn’t so vast, but consider that the modded roadster concludes the standard sprint in barely above 4.9 seconds, as opposed to the 5.4 seconds of the stock model. This means a healthy 10% performance boost, which should actually be perceivable.
Furthermore, the Pedal Box kit only costs €229 its base version or €259 with a smartphone app included. The app enables you to select between three performance modes using your mobile device. The shipment costs are already included, and you even have a 30-day money-back guarantee if something goes not as planned.
