Smith Vehicle Engineering unveiled the Oletha Coupe last year, basing it on the E86 BMW Z4 coupe. The car was originally bundled with a 4.4-liter V8, but you can now order it with an inline-six mill instead.
The mill in question is a BMW S54 bored out from 3.2 to 3.4 liters of displacement and boosted by 60 horsepower to 406 PS (400 hp / 298 kW). The transmission stays six-speed manual, and the redline is still at 8,000 RPM.
The new restomod weighs around 45 kilograms (100 pounds) less than the V8-based one, tipping the scales at 1,360 kg (3,000 lbs) before liquids. The carbon-fiber exterior stays unchanged except for the hood cover, which loses its characteristic bulge.
The car, which many call the ideological successor to the BMW Z8 in a closed body, debuted at the Audrain Newport Concours and Motor Week in the USA a few days ago. Pre-ordering is already available, but you will need to contact SVE to learn about the pricing.
