The German premium car manufacturer BMW has published an introductory video showcasing its new Z4 roadster in its top trim level, the M40i.
The BMW Z4 M40i will remain the strongest roadster in the family, since the company doesn’t plan on releasing a top-spec model separately.
In its most expensive specification, the vehicle will get sport brakes, adjustable suspension, a new front axle design, electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential, and a designer-made set of cast wheels. Its six-cylinder engine is reported to be “super-powerful”, but no specific numbers are available. Still, this is probably referring to a 3.0-liter V6 unit capable of around 400 hp (300 kW).
As for the design, the company promises to release a classical roadster with an elongated hood, short overhangs, a soft top and a low center of gravity. The car will take advantage of a state-of-the-art iDrive infotainment system.
The two-seat vehicle shares its platform with the latest-generation sports coupe Toyota Supra.
BMW is currently busy putting its Z4 M40i through a number of road tests to ensure perfect functioning of all of its mechanisms and units.
