Media: BMW Z4 to enter production later this year

According to various media sources, the manufacturing and assembly of the new BMW Z4 roadster series will begin in Austria before the end of 2018.

In particular, production will take place in the Magna Steyr works in the Austrian city of Graz. There is no information on whether the production cycle will coincide with that of the next-generation Toyota Supra, which is also built on the same automotive platform.

The Z4 has been photographed several times during road tests. Judging by its appearance, the car is an almost exact copy of its concept version, which debuted in Pebble Beach, California, USA a year ago.

The base configuration ships with a 2.0L turbocharged V4 engine with 251 hp (187 kW). Other options include a 340hp / 254kW strong V6 turbo and a hi-end engine with 390hp / 291 kW at its disposal. The manufacturer has repeatedly stated there will be no special series of the BMW Z4.

The car will celebrate its official show premiere in October 2018, but teaser pics and vids showing it in its full glory are expected later this summer.
