New BMW Z4 Roadster to debut in August

The updated BMW Z4 will celebrate its premiere at the upcoming Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance festival in August. The manufacturer won’t be posting any teasers before the event, so these spy photos are all we have to go by.

The roadster has recently been caught on camera clad in camouflage during a test drive. All we can still see on the photos are its massive air intakes, radiator grille ribs, and headlights.

Preliminary data suggests that the new BMW Z4 is going to get a soft top instead of a hard one like before, a carbon body kit, and a 3.0-liter V6 engine with 360 hp (268 kW). It is going to be able to accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) in 4.5 seconds or less and have an electronic speed limit at 250 km/h (155 mph). The entry-level model will ship with a less powerful four-cylinder engine.

In addition to all of the above, the roadster will get low suspension, stronger brakes, adaptive shock absorbers, and electronic diff lock.

The previous generation of BMW Z4 has been in production until 2016.
