New BMW Z4 leaks in Instagram photos

The upcoming BMW Z4 roadster won’t premiere until August 26, 2018 at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California. Nevertheless, the German manufacturer has been careless enough to let it out without test mule camouflage.

A series of photos showing the top-spec BMW Z4 M40i have been recently uploaded to Instagram. Based on the images, the final production version of the car will inherit the design of its conceptual predecessor, which debuted at the Pebble Beach show in 2017. It will get a soft top for lower total weight and improved steering.

Rumor has it that the upcoming roadster will be driven by a V6 engine capable of 340 hp (254 kW). The U.S. model will receive a boost to 390 hp (291 kW). The base model will ship with a smaller engine capable of 251 hp (187 kW) or less.

Sales begin in the spring of 2019. The Austria-assembled car series will likely cost over U.S. $50,000 in retail.
