In the framework of Pebble
Beach Concours d'Elegance in California, the premiere of a sensational concept
car of the Bavarian brand, took place. Serial production of the new generation
prototype of roadster Z4 will start next year.
The concept received a
number of unconventional for BMW visual solutions. For example, a protruding
carbon bumper made and vertical headlights.
The major designer of the
BMW concern, Adrian van Hoydonk, reported: "The BMW Concept Z4
demonstrates a new styling of the exterior of our company's cars - in every
aspect and in every detail".
Under the hood of the third
generation BMW Z4, most likely, will be a two-liter "four" with a
capacity of 184 and 251 hp. And three-liter in-line supercharged
"six", generating 360 horsepower. A little later there will be a
431-strong M-version with a three-liter twin-turbo engine in lineup.
Let's remind, the presented
car became the result of German company and concern Toyota works. The architecture,
suspension and braking system was developed by the Japanese company, and for
electronics and power units BMW was responsible. On the same modular platform
was created the sports coupe of new generation Toyota Supra.
Production of both models
of sports cars BMW and Toyota will be installed at the Austrian Magna plant in
2018.
