Japanese wheel and tire manufacturer Bridgestone released a bestseller on the international market in the 1980s: the new R.A.P. Evo wheel set was lightweight and simple, but good-looking and practical. You could often see it on rally cars of that era, and now, the company has officially resumed production.
You can grab a full set for just $1,160. The continuation model is called ‘Super RAP Evo’ and is made of aluminum despite looking like a typical steelie. Its semi-closed design protects the brakes from dirt, rocks and other debris getting in while still letting in enough air for cooling. Bridgestone adds that the wheel is 30% lighter than other similar products on the market right now.
Unlike its two-piece predecessor, the Super RAP Evo is a monoblock by design. Out of the three historical sizes (13, 14 and 15 inches), only the biggest one will be available. Buyers can choose from two rim width and center depth options (as seen in the gallery here).
The shipments will begin in February 2024.
