Supercar maker Bugatti is currently considering all pros and cons of adding a second car model to its current lineup.
According to CEO Stephan Winkelmann, the vehicle is being conceptualized as a more affordable, everyday-use alternative to the expensive Bugatti Chiron. It might arrive on the market packing an all-electric powertrain, although the company considers other options as well. Whatever the case, Bugatti is still busy assessing the overall market viability of the model, and assures us that the design phase has not even started yet.
The marque’s current lineup consists of a single hypercar named Chiron, which comes in three trim versions: Standard, Sports and Anniversary. While different in terms of design and features, all three comes powered by the same 8.0-liter W16 monster engine rated at 1,500 horsepower (1,119 kilowatts).
There are also two special editions of the Chiron out there, the La Voiture Noire (unique) and the Divo (production limited to 40 copies).
As for the alleged second Bugatti model, we have no idea what kind of chassis and drivetrain the car is going to be based upon. The company claims it will attempt to hit the sweet spot between driving comfort and performance, but that remains to be proven.
