Bugatti says it won’t fulfil its customers’ every whim, now or ever

French ultra-luxury carmaker Bugatti caused quite a stir at the recently concluded Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance with its newest Centodieci hypercar. To many of us, the vehicle is a perfect proof that the company is capable of building truly unique sports cars – too bad it doesn’t want to.

Speaking in a recent interview, a senior manager at Bugatti made a clear statement that the company is not going to process individualized orders of any kind, ever. He emphasized that the management always stays in touch with the potential clients, accumulates feedback and makes decisions based upon the data collected, but reserves the final right to decide just what vehicles to release, how, and when.

For instance, there is the Divo hypercar that will emerge in a series of 40. It was completely sold out in pre-orders shortly after the announcement, but a queue keeps forming from people waiting for someone to cancel their pre-order.

In fact, Bugatti fans seem happy with the idea of buying supercars they have never even seen before, and waiting several years for them to be delivered. The abovementioned Centodieci, featured in our gallery and the video here, will only begin shipping in 2022. So, maybe customization isn’t that important, after all.
