The French hypercar maker has shared some interesting details concerning its upcoming Bolide model. The track weapon has an eight-liter W16 rated at 1,850 PS (1,824 hp / 1,360 kW), 1,850 Nm (1,364 lb-ft) of torque and can go faster than 500 km/h (310 miles per hour).
One of the highlights of the project comes in the shape of the so-called Dimple Airscoop. Being an active aerodynamic part, the roof scoop sports 60 round bumps that automatically extend or retract depending on the current speed.
The car reaches 100 km/h (62 miles per hour) in 2.17 seconds and can theoretically break the abovementioned 500 km/h barrier in barely over 20 seconds, so it needs very fast-reacting active body kit parts. The Dimple Airscoop apparently fills in the role quite well, sliding its bumps in and out within tenth fractions of a second. The effect is a 10% reduction in drag, a 17% reduction in upward force, and an increase in downforce.
The rear wing remains the main source of downforce for the vehicle, producing 1,800 kg (3,970 lbs) of it at 320 km/h (200 mph).
