French automotive brand Bugatti has posted a teaser video featuring its upcoming Divo hypercar on the official website. The video concentrates on an interesting feature of the new luxury-laden vehicle.
The footage showcases the multi-section rear lights of the car, which look nothing like the ones that come with its sibling, Chiron. The light pattern looks a bit like erratically scattered checkerboard tiles and is rather impressive, if unusual.
The Bugatti Divo owes its name to famous French racing driver Albert Divo, who piloted his Bugatti racecar to two victories in the Targo Florio race back in 1920s.
If the slogan “Made for corners” is to be believed, the driver should experience tremendous steering ease and responsiveness when entering sharp turns. This necessitates a hi-end aerodynamic body kit that can generate as much downforce as possible.
Even though Chiron and Divo share the same engine model, the Divo will accelerate to 100 km/h (60 mph) faster than its predecessor, owing to reduced weight and better overall aerodynamics. The top-of-the-line Chiron Sport gets to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, so seeing Divo beat this record should be interesting.
The vehicle will premiere at the Quail Motorsports Gathering in the USA in August. A total of 40 cars worth €5,000,000 each will roll off the assembly lines.
