Bugatti Divo – the extreme performance modification of the Chiron hypercar by the same manufacturer – has premiered at last. Featuring a unique design, an active aerodynamic kit and a thoroughly reworked chassis, it looks and feels really different from its predecessor.
Every single detail about the Divo has been meticulously designed with aerodynamics in mind. And it shows, too: at the Nardò Ring, the Divo has managed to overtake the Chiron by whopping 8 seconds.
The car’s model name is an homage to Albert Divo, a famous racing driver of the first half of the 20th century. The truly unique vehicle series sports sleek headlights, 3D rear lights, roof-mounted aerodynamic panels, a massive spoiler and an exclusively designed diffusor with four in-built exhaust pipes.
Compared to the Chiron, the Divo produces an additional 90 kg (200 lb) of downforce, bringing the total up to 456 kg (1,005 lb). Its top going speed is electronically-limited at 380 km/h (236 mph).
In order to squeeze the most out of the hypercar’s extreme aerodynamic design, the engineer team had to reduce its weight by installing lighter wheels, carbon intercooler cap, and sound system. The Divo also had to get rid of some of Chiron’s noise-proofing panels and storage compartments.
The car is powered by an 8.0-liter W16 monster of an engine capable of 1,500 hp (1,120 kW). Its exact acceleration properties aren’t being revealed, but it is reasonable to assume that the Bugatti Divo makes 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in less than 2.5 seconds.
The entire limited series of 40 hypercars has already been sold out in pre-orders at U.S. $5,800,000 apiece.
