Possibly electrified Bugatti Centodieci sneaks up on unsuspecting audience

Bugatti has unveiled its fastest and, at 9,000,000 USD, the most expensive hypercar series – the Centodieci – at the Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance in August 2019. A couple days ago, the vehicle made an appearance in Belgium, where it shocked the bystanders with its completely silent movement.

In all likelihood, this particular copy was retrofitted with an electric motor to enable driving in areas with strict noise level limitations. Persuading the car’s monstrous W16 unit to keep quiet would have been challenging, to say the least.

The Bugatti Centodieci series emerged as an  homage to the legendary EB110, one of the most iconic road vehicles of the 1990s. It could sprint from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.6 seconds and deliver up to 553 hp (412 kW) to the wheels – both crazy numbers for three decades ago.
