Bugatti Chiron finds a worthy opponent, and it’s a fighter jet

You don’t witness drag races like this on a daily basis: an aviation-themed special edition of the Bugatti Chiron going up against a Dassault Rafale Marine jet.

If you look closely, there is actually much in common between the hypercar and the plane, including both being made in France. The multi-purpose fighter packs formidable thrust in its turbines, commanding 5,727 PS (5,648 HP / 4,212 kW) and as much as 58,550 Nm (43,184 lb-ft) of torque. Its entire weaponry system and navigation is of French descent, too.

In turn, the Chiron Pur Sport “Les Legendes du Ciel” is a special edition dedicated to all Bugatti racing drivers who served in the France Air Force. Powered by a W16, the car slams the asphalt with 1,500 PS (1,479 hp / 1,103 kW) and 1,600 Nm (1,180 lb-ft) of torque.

As uneven as the power balance appears to be, the drag strip is short enough to give the hypercar a fair fighting chance. Be sure to watch the video, because we did many times and were very impressed!
