Tested: Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport costs $350k+ to maintain even if not driven

Muhammad Al Qavi Zamani, a big Bugatti fan from Singapore, found out just how high the cost of ownership is for a Chiron Pur Sport. The findings were impressive, to say the least.

Throughout four years of ownership, Pur Sport owners can be expected to shell out a rough equivalent of U.S. $350,000 for maintenance alone, even if they keep the car in a conditioned environment and never actually use it. Failure to do so would result in its aftermarket price dropping drastically.

The first major service is required after 14 months or around 10,000 miles (16,000 km) of use. It involves changing liquids, a filter and 16 drain valves, and comes in at nearly $25,000.

Tires must be replaced every 14-16 consecutive months. There are three comfort-oriented variants priced at $8,000 each, but those who want the ultimate in road traction and control will want Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R for $40,000.

Sometime between the 42nd and 48th month, the four turbochargers driving the W16 underneath need replacement as well, adding another $26,000 to the bill. Replacement air intakes cost $22,000, fuel tank $44,000, and calibrating the eight-liter W16 another $28,000.

New windshield wipers are $4,000 with installation, while the windshield itself comes in at $60,000. Bugatti recommends washing the car by hand and avoiding pressure washing, but if you do manage to scrape the paint, re-painting will set you back $55,000.

To conclude on a mildly optimistic note, loyal customers get discounts of up to 30%.
