Bugatti teases a mysterious concept car ahead of RM Sotheby’s reveal

Bugatti has shared a teaser of the prototype hypercar it will be showcasing at the nearest RM Sotheby’s auction. No information is available on it, except that it was a design study that never went into production.

The hypercar is only shown in one image where it is draped over with some cloth. Even so, you can tell it has a large spoiler and a telltale C-shaped beam between the door and the rear wheel arch – both implying some sort of relation to the Chiron, which you will find in the rest of the gallery and in the video.

It is unclear just how the auction house ties into this. CarBuzz supposes that Bugatti may want to auction off the design study now that the production of the Chiron has ended and keeping pre-production cars around is no longer necessary.

In the meantime, the French hypercar maker is working on a successor to the Chiron that will likely see the daylight in 2023. Rimac, a Croatia-based producer of electric hypercars, is designing a powertrain for it to replace the current quad-turbo W16.
