A Bugatti collector has exhibited a trio of cars in Chateau Saint Jean, the home country of the famous brand. Each of the cars broke the top speed record of its time.
The collection consists of a Veyron 16.4 Super Sport World Record Edition, a Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Edition and a Chiron Super Sport 300+. Among other guests, the owner invited Pierre-Henri Raphanel to the exhibition, the driver who took the first Veyron mentioned above to 431.07 km/h (267.9 mph) 13 years ago.
Three years after that feat, the new Grand Sport Vitesse modification of the Veyron was able to dethrone its predecessor and simultaneously set a new record among open-top cars by going 408.84 km/h (254 mph). The Chiron SS 300+ was later recognized as the world’s first production car to smash through the 300 mph (482.8 km/h) barrier. Andy Wallace, who drove it, was also present at the meetup.
