Bugatti unveils a golden Chiron spin-off adorned with 45 supercar sketches

The exquisite Chiron Super Sport Golden Era is a one-off hypercar decorated by the French car marque with its own classics from the past. Ordered by a private car collector, it was envisioned as a homage to the history of the brand.

For its own part, Bugatti revealed that the commission turned out one of the most difficult for its Sur Mesure division to carry out, and took two years to get right.

Both the exterior and cabin are finished in Doré gold and black, with the former tint invented specifically for this project. The passenger’s side of the car bears images of 26 Bugatti classics, such as the Type 41 Royale, the legendary Type 57 SC Atlantic, and others. The driver’s side is dedicated to the marque’s 19 more recent models, including the EB110, the Veyron and the Chiron. The pop-up rear wing has the lettering ‘Golden Era’ on its lower part.

According to Bugatti Design Director Achim Anscheidt, the company had to come up with an all-new technological process that would enable the design team to apply drawings on top of a finished paint coat. It took multiple attempts to get right, and even then, the work took 400 hours to complete.

Three more sketches found their way onto the door panels. Hand-made embroidery made it onto the headrests, the center console and the running boards. All pricing details remain secret, but the standard Chiron Super Sport cost from €3.2 million at launch.
