Bugatti Sur Mesure has unveiled its latest creation – the so-called Chiron Super Sport 57 One of One. Apparently, the car is a gift from a wealthy American to his wife on her 70th birthday, who fell in love with the Type 57 SC Atlantic some two decades ago.
We are told that the lady visited a museum in the United States where she saw the timeless Type 57 from the 1930s on display. Designed by Jean Bugatti himself, it saw the daylight in a production run of a paltry four units, out of which only three have survived to this day.
The husband, a long-standing Bugatti fan and owner himself, suddenly invited his wife over to the French company’s Molsheim HQ, where she was asked to customize the soon-to-become-her hypercar. Sur Mesure Design Director Jascha Straub personally presided over the process.
As a result, what used to be a stock Chiron Super Sport (see video) ended up with a period-correct light blue livery, a bespoke chromed horseshoe grille and a set of chrome wheels to go with the rest of the retro bling. The lower part of the pop-up rear wing was adorned with a custom graphic named ‘Atlantica’.
The same theme continued in the cabin, with the door panels and the center console bearing similar ornaments. The seat headrests were adorned with the iconic ‘Dancing Elephant’ image designed by Ettore Bugatti’s brother, Rembrandt.
