Bugatti has assembled and shipped its one-hundredth Chiron hypercar to a client in the Middle East. This means the company has 400 more vehicles priced at €2,850,000 each to produce before the series is complete.
Despite the exorbitant cost, employees of the L‘Atelier car design atelier in Molsheim, France don’t have much free time on their hands. The workshop is abuzz with activity and manages to produce as many as 70 resplendent hypercars per year.
The luxury-laden Bugatti Chiron celebrated its premiere two years ago. It features a carbon body with matte navy-blue lacquering and a humongous 8.0-liter V16 engine assisted by as many as four turbochargers. The monster motor revs up to dizzying 1,500 hp (1,120 kW) along with 1,600 Nm (1,180 lb·ft) of torque. Driven by such a beast, the sleek vehicle bolts to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.4 seconds and only peaks out at 420 km/h (261 mph). In case you wondered, this is half the velocity of an airborne Boeing 747.
Apart from the, ahem, “regular” Chiron, Bugatti also sells the Sport edition. That one features even more carbon parts (including, famously, both windshield wipers), reworked suspension, improved thrust vector control, and revised steering.
