Bugatti Divo finds its first owners

Today, two years since the reveal of the Bugatti Divo at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the first hypercars have finally rolled into the garages of their respective owners.

The Divo comes based on the Chiron chassis, but the manufacturer considers it a standalone model. Revised aerodynamics makes for much of the difference: the front end boasts new air intakes and headlights, the rear wing is purpose-built for the model, there are air scoops on the roof, and the shark fin is also new.

Powering the Divo is the standard Chiron engine, an eight-liter W16 capable of 1,500 hp (1,119 kW). The coupe zaps from nothing to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.4 seconds and features chassis improvements that maximize cornering performance.

Bugatti CEO Stefan Winkelmann believes the Divo has changed the reputation of his company from “one-trick pony” to “coachbuilder”: the Chiron platform proved a superb starting point for various specialized supercars.

The Divo starts at twice the Chiron price, or €5,000,000. Since only 40 cars are being produced, exclusivity alone may justify the hefty price tag for collectors.
