This Bugatti Veyron scale model costs like a real car

Amalgam Collection, a toy car maker famous for its painstakingly detailed and realistic replicas of supercars, has unveiled a scale imitation of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport. Orders are open starting from $14,000.

The car was co-designed with Bugatti, which helped find the necessary materials and ensure the semblance with the real hypercar. Amalgam used extremely precise 3D scanning technology to develop its 1:8 scale model.

The replica will be available in four finishes: white body and coffee-hued interior (coming soon), black and orange (on sale), light blue with cognac red (on sale), and custom (available starting from $18,200).

The original 16.4 Grand Sport (see video) is an open-topped variant of the Veyron with a Targa body, which Bugatti introduced 14 years ago. It came powered by a W16 engine rated at 1,001 PS (987 hp / 736 kW). With the roof raised, the GS was able to hit a top speed of 407 km/h (253 mph), making it equal to the Veyron coupe in that regard. With the top folded down, however, a limiter kicked in at 369 km/h (229 mph).
