The hypercar mock-up currently sitting in a glass showcase on Place de l’hôtel de ville, Molsheim, France, looks like the single most expensive Christmas ornament in history.
The company itself clarifies that the vehicle sitting next to the Christmas tree is a life-size imitation of the La Voiture Noire, rather than the real thing. Even so, it manages to impress with its rich detailing and aura of luxury, and will continue to do so until the end of March.
Laurent Furst called the unique installation “a gift to the entire city”, emphasizing that it could help residents keep up the holiday spirit even though all celebrations had to be canceled due to the pandemic.
The Bugatti La Voiture Noire is a one-off vehicle built to commemorate the legendary Type 57 SC Atlantic. It premiered at last year’s Geneva show and costs €16.7 million, taxes included. The car combines an all-new body with standard Chiron tech: its 8.0-liter, quad-turbo W16 still hits the seven-speed DCT with 1,500 PS (1,479 hp / 1,103 kW) and 1,600 Nm (1,180 lb-ft) of torque.
The luxury automaker isn’t quite done with the polishing and homologation of the La Voiture Noire yet, so the client who ordered it will only be getting it in late 2021.
