Bugatti has teamed up with British jewelry maker Asprey to produce a one-off golden replica of the equally unique La Voiture Noire hypercar.
The replica consists of 24-carate gold and rests on a handmade pedestal adorned with the signatures of people who designed the original. Bugatti says it is only a preview at this moment, and a full unveiling is coming soon in March. The price is not mentioned anywhere, and we would not be surprised to learn that there is already a buyer who pre-ordered it.
Asprey and Bugatti plan on making 261 similar replicas later on, but smaller in size and made of silver. The number is not coincidental: the original hypercar maxes out at 420 km/h, or 261 miles per hour.
The La Voiture Noire debuted last spring to pay homage to the 1936MY original concept car that vanished without a trace in the mid-20th century. It is the most expensive Bugatti out there at U.S. $18.7 million.
