When Bugatti unveiled the W16-powered Mistral hypercar this summer, it neglected to mention its top speed. Now we know that it amounts to 420 km/h (261 mph), making the model the company’s fastest to date.
For reference, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse set a world record back in 2013 when it hit 409 km/h (254 mph). Several years later, the Hennessey Venom GT spider car smashed through that record by going faster than 427 km/h (265 mph).
The Mistral is Bugatti’s last car equipped with a sixteen-cylinder engine and also the last non-electrified model. Created with the Chiron as the starting point, it boasts an all-new body.
Only 99 units will be made, but buying one is not an option anymore – the entire batch was sold out before the premiere starting from €5,000,000. The deliveries are set to begin in 2024.
