900HP BMW M5 (E34) vs. 1,001HP Bugatti Veyron: The Drag Race

Any tuner knows that challenging a Bugatti Veyron to a drag race is a suicidal idea. Sixteen cylinders, 1,001 horsepower (746 kilowatts), 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.5 seconds and 407 km/h (253 mph) max speed – reading the stats alone can render you lightheaded. Nonetheless, one such daredevil did just that.

Published on the YouTube channel named GTBOARD.com, the video follows a Veyron competing against a… BMW E34 M5. Its owner claims the output at the crank has been raised to 900 hp (671 kW).

Miraculously enough, the French supercar killer gets to see its opponent’s taillights. That said, we have two serious reservations about what we have just seen. First, not even 900 horsepower should be enough to beat a carbon-fiber track missile purpose-built to eat lesser cars for breakfast. Second, we can’t shake off the feeling that the Veyron driver barely cares about the race and almost feels fine about letting the M5 win. Tsk, tsk, tsk…
