Buick reveals the GL8 Avenir facelift

Buick has entered the 2019 Auto Shanghai fair with a facelifted version of its GL8 Avenir luxury minivan. The copy is ready for mass production and shouldn’t change much before the release.

Compared to the pre-facelift Buick GL8 Avenir, the Shanghai display car sports a redesigned front, complete with new LED-based headlights, a bumper with chrome-coated fang-like inserts, and a mesh grille.

The cabin now houses a single large display that simultaneously serves as an all-digital dashboard and a multimedia screen. There is a 14-inch HUD, seats adorned with a sketch of a waterfall, cashmere floor lining, and a wine cupboard with bottle cooler built into the rear center armrest. The design team reportedly drew their inspiration from guohua, a form of traditional Chinese art.

Aside from the MPV, Buick has also used the Shanghai show as an opportunity to unveil its next-gen Encore SUV and its larger version, the Encore GX. Both come based on the BXX platform and ship with turbocharged gasoline engines between 1.0 and 1.3 liters large.
