Buick seems determined to bring a full-scale SUV invasion down upon the States. In spring, media learned that the company was planning to launch the Encore GX in 2020, and today we have discovered yet another crossover is also likely to emerge in the coming year.
The car remains unannounced, so we will take the liberty and call it the Baby Enclave. If these spy shots are any indication, the newcomer looks just like the new Chevrolet Blazer. The two share the same basic architecture (С1XX) and have two-tier headlights.
The Baby Enclave is smaller than the regular Enclave because it uses a shortened version of the C1XX platform (just like the GMC Acadia). As such, we expect it to be between 4,862 mm and 4,917 mm (15.95 ft. – 16.13 ft.) long with a wheelbase spanning 2,860 mm (9.38 ft.). To compare, the Big Enclave is 5,189 mm (17.02 ft.) long and has 3,071 mm (10.08 ft.) between the axles.
Chances are the model will ship with the same assortment of engines as the GMC Acadia, specifically two naturally aspirated engines rated at 195 hp (145 kW) and 314 hp (234 kW) and a turbocharged unit capable of 234 hp (174 kW).
Returning to the name of the mystery SUV, it is worth mentioning that Buick has recently re-acquired the rights for the “Envoy” trademark. Since the company already has the Enclave, Encore, and Envision on its lineup, chances are good that this is what the mini off-roader will be called.
