Tommy Ivo, a car customizer and hot rod builder also known as TV Tommy, made this four-engined Buick Wagonmaster four decades ago to annihilate competition in drag races. It will soon go on sale, although nothing is known about its price.
Ivo unveiled a similar vehicle called Showboat back in 1961. NHRA did not admit it to racing, but allowed driving it as a show car before events. Two decades later, the talented tuner converted the Showboat into the Wagonmaster seen here. For a variety of reasons, however, the car never had a career in motorsports. Since 1982, it had only participated in special shows and events.
Powering the ride are four 6.6-liter Buick Nailhead V8s. There is no mention of horsepower output, but the original engine that went in production in early 1960s churned out approximately 325 PS (321 hp / 239 kW).
The seller points out that the four engines are linked in pairs to drive two axles, so one can consider the drivetrain configuration as “dual-V16” instead. As of right now, the car resides in a private collection.
