1980s-era GM cars get a new, modern air conditioning option

Vintage Air, U.S.-based developer of climate control systems for old-timers, has come up with a new product targeting restored General Motors cars from the 1980s. The air conditioner is the company’s most powerful model to date and blends flawlessly with each car’s retro style.

Compatible vehicles include the 1982–1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass and the 1986–1987 Buick Grand National/Regal. Vintage Air points out that even cars originally lacking an air conditioner can be upgraded with one.

The new system is particularly efficient thanks to special coil-based heat exchangers. The internals are governed by smart electronic hardware, but you still get to control everything using retro-themed sliders – no option for a touchscreen.

Pricing remains to be announced.
