Buick Regal gets a facelift in China

The SAIC–General Motors joint enterprise has shared the first photos of the 2024 Buick Regal for its domestic market of China. The sedan, which premiered five years ago, has been refreshed in line with the marque’s latest design direction while keeping the interior intact. The sales will begin in a few months.

The pre-facelift version of the car resembled the Opel Insignia on the outside and ran on the same platform. The newcomer boasts a large mesh grille and a restyled bumper sporting impressive chrome-trimmed vertical intakes. The lighting looks the same all around, as do the sides and the rear section.

According to AutoHome, the only novelty inside the car is a badge on the steering wheel. The badges are new on the outside, too. While it may seem a bit light for a facelift five years in the making, the update is most likely meant to bolster sales of what has always been a successful product for Buick. The Regal sales had exceeded 120,000 annual units on multiple occasions, so refreshing the front fascia design could be the right call.

For the drivetrain there is still the choice between 1.5T with 169 PS and 2.0T with 237 PS. Both engines are mated to the same nine-speed automatic transmission.
