BYD says it will make as many EVs per month as Tesla makes per quarter

Chinese automaker BYD is expanding its nature-friendly car production volumes right now, planning to hit the 300,000 EVs-per-month milestone soon. Tesla Inc. has moved around as may vehicles in the entire first quarter of 2022.

BYD actually seems to have all it takes to maintain the volume at this level. In June alone, the company sold around 134,000 units, surpassing the last year’s result by three and a half times and the result of May 2022 by 20,000 units. It also has around 700,000 EVs on the backorder list, so it’s not like there is a risk of running out of active market demand soon.

Furthermore, the Chinese industrial conglomerate currently operates six large factories nationwide. Three more are under construction, with two of them set to be launched in 2022.

The top management of the company hopes to reach a production rate of 300,000 units per month in August. The figure looks especially ambitious if you consider that its annual sales last year did not exceed 600,000 units.
