Denza X leaks online ahead of premiere thanks to patent shots

A freshly uploaded batch of patent images lets us see what exterior updates the crossover SUV is set to receive before it goes on sale; the oily bits are most likely to stay stock.

Starting with the front end, the headlights and DRLs are the same, while the bumpers are new. In its EV form, the car lacks a front grille of any kind and sports a solid front end instead. The other option is a plug-in hybrid with the normal grille.

Moving on to the side, the wheels now sport a multi-spoke design. The dimensions look the same, so the car will probably stay 4,890 mm long, 1,950 mm wide and 1,725 mm tall with 2,820 mm of wheelbase.

Inside the three-row cabin, there is a rather minimalistic dashboard with a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen in the middle and a 12.3-inch gauge screen.

No technical specifications have been announced yet. The Denza X PHEV uses a 2.0-liter turbo engine rated at 192 PS (189 hp / 141 kW), an electric motor mounted next to the gearbox adding 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW) and another motor on the rear axle contributing another 245 PS (242 hp / 180 kW). As for the EV version, it might end up having the same powertrain as the BYD Tang, meaning 517 PS (510 hp / 380 kW) and up to 730 km (453 miles) of range.

Denza was founded 12 years ago as a joint enterprise between BYD (China) and Daimler AG (Germany). The SUV named X was co-designed with Mercedes-Benz, but has failed to sell well so far with only 175 pre-facelift units (see video) delivered in January and no more in production right now.
