BYD teases its $200k Yangwang EV

BYD has shared a trio of teaser pics dedicated to the first production car set to be released under its new luxury sub-brand, Yangwang. The all-electric vehicle, which shapes up to become the most expensive SUV ever made in China, is set to debut on January 5, 2022.

One of the teasers reveals a part of the front end. A dotted front grille pattern gradually transitions into a similar pattern on the DRLs. The headlight units are unusual with multiple marker LEDs and an overlap at the top.

The side mirrors sport large housings accommodating double turn indicators and ornamental inserts. The taillights are L-shaped and reside rather high up. The rear side window appears to be covered with a panel sporting horizontal stripes.

The automaker had already shown the car in camouflage through a series of “official spy shots”. If you browse to the end of the gallery, you will find these shots depicting a rather rugged-looking SUV with boxy wheel arches and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.

The Yangwang EV is expected to be powered by four electric motors and rival or surpass the latest Mercedes-Benz G-Class in most respects.
