Automaker BYD will attend the Shanghai Auto Show on April 18 with an all-electric supercar known as the Yangwang U9. Here are its photos and specifications.
The company originally announced the model at the beginning of the year along with an SUV – the Yangwang U8. However, there had been no details available until now. The updated version of the car sports new headlights and a sophisticated body kit crowned with a large rear wing.
The coupe has doors that swing up to open and uses the Yisifang EV quad-motor platform with one motor mounted at each wheel. Individually rated at 275 PS and 320 Nm, they add up to 1,100 PS (1,085 hp / 809 kW) and 1,280 Nm (944 lb-ft) of torque. The company claims the car needs two seconds for its 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) launch, putting it on par with the best European electric hypercars like the Rimac Nevera.
Power is supplied by a Blade battery pack. The company envisions multiple sizes, but the smallest one – 100 kWh – is still said to be enough for 700 km (435 miles) of CLTC-rated range.
Sales in China are expected to start in late 2023 with the prices beginning at 1,000,000 Yuan (~$145,000). Asked about competition, the local media can only think of the GAC Aion Hyper SSR.
