BYD’s most recently created car sub-brand, Fang Cheng Bao, will be releasing two SUVs in addition to the already announced Leopard 5 (a.k.a. Bao 5). One of these off-roaders will be larger and the other one smaller than the Bao 5, and both are designed for exports, Car News China reports.
We are told that the full-size SUV had already been shown to us before via the BYD Super 8 Concept. It looked like a life-size mockup with blacked-out windows and no actual interior. It was also markedly different from the Leopard 5 with a completely new front fascia and a longer rear overhang, among other things. It had pull-out door handles and video cameras instead of mirrors. Darkened pillars all around made its roof look like it was hovering in mid-air.
As for the smaller SUV, Car News China says it will be called Leopard 3. Apparently, that name popped up on the screen when Fang Cheng Bao presented its model number five (see video). Other than that, any specifics will have to wait.
