BYD rolls out a trio of EVs for Europe

BYD has come to the Paris Motor Show with three electric cars from various market segments. There’s a sedan called the Han, a compact SUV named the Atto 3 and a larger SUV dubbed the Tang. Prices start from €38,000.

The above price applies to the Atto 3, the most affordable of the trio. It is a 4.4-meter-long crossover SUV with 2.7 meters between the axles, 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) of power coming from a single motor, and 60.5 kilowatt-hours of energy storage. The WLTP range on a charge maxes out at 420 km, or 261 miles.

The Han sedan comes in at nearly five meters long and starts at €72,000. It makes use of a powertrain rated at 517 PS (510 hp / 380 kW) that takes it 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.9 seconds. The range tops out at 520 km, or 323 miles. The Tesla Model S is believed to be its main market rival.

The Tang seven-seater starts from the same MSRP as the sedan and comes equipped with the same powertrain. It takes advantage of a larger 86.4-kWh battery back, but higher weight and drag cap its driving range at just 400 km (248 miles).

The sales will first start in France and Germany followed by other markets later. According to Carscoops, the company plans to launch two other EVs in Europe soon. This includes the Seal, a compact sedan targeting the same segment as the Tesla Model 3, and the Dolphin, a hatchback aiming at the same slice of pie as the VW ID.3.
