The all-electric crossover BYD Sea Lion 07 introduced at the Guangzhou Auto Show several days ago will give rise to a whole new SUV sub-brand, Car News China reports quoting company’s Ocean Series GM, Zhang Zhuo.
In the first half of 2024, the automaker plans to launch production of two new crossovers called dubbed Sea Lion 05 and Sea Lion 06. There is still no data on either of them, but the numbers suggest that both will be smaller than the 07 (see the gallery and the video). During the premiere, the company revealed that the car was 4,830 mm (188.7 in) long, 1,925 mm (75.2 in) wide and 1,620 mm (63.3 in) tall with 2,930 mm (114.5 in) between the axles. Rumors are circulating that the starting price will lie close to 200,000 Yuan.
Judging by Zhang Zhuo’s words so far, BYD intends to do the same with its Seal vehicle lineup. On its domestic market, the Seal trademark may soon become a sedan-only sub-brand considered a part of the company’s Ocean lineup.
Things look different in Europe, where BYD has only recently revealed a crossover SUV named ‘Seal U’. The same car is known in China as the BYD Song Plus.
