YangWang U6 EV spied testing

YangWang – a Chinese electric car brand owned by BYD and specializing in electrified transports – has started testing its next production car, a sedan named the U6. CarNewsChina, which has published a handful of spy shots, says that sales are expected to start next year. Once on the market, the U6 EV will compete the likes of the BMW i7, Mercedes-Benz EQS, and Nio ET9.

We have already seen this car in an earlier presentation slide, complete with pull-out door handles and aerodynamic wheels. The new photos reveal headlights looking like those of the YangWang U9, video cameras instead of side mirrors, and a LiDAR mounted above the windshield. A closer look reveals some of the dashboard with three large displays and a three-spoke steering wheel.

With a drag ratio of 0.195, the car is being marketed as the world’s lowest-drag production sedan. In this respect, it surpasses even the Geely Galaxy E8 (0.199), the Lucid Air, the Mercedes-Benz EQS, and the Tesla Model S (0.2–0.21).

We assume that the U6 will make use of the same quad-motor powertrain as the U8 SUV and the U9 hypercar. In addition to this flagship spec, it should also get range-extender and plug-in hybrid variants.
