Cadillac working on performance trims of its new CT4-V, CT5-V

Two distinctly sported-up, slightly camouflaged Cadillac vehicles, a CT4-V and a CT5-V, have attended the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix race this weekend. It looks like the company is getting ready to premiere performance versions of its sedans/saloons.

The new Cadillac CT4-V and CT5-V only debuted a few days ago. Both come based on the Alpha 2 architecture and ship with sports-grade suspension, ten-speed automatic transmission, and AWD (optional).

The new CT4-V comes powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged V4 engine rated at 324 hp (242 kW), while the CT5-V relies on a 3.0-liter V6 with 360 hp (268 kW) to propel it along. Frankly speaking, neither of the two have enough engine power by modern performance car standards.

Introducing performance trims for both models might rescue the situation, though, and it looks like this is exactly what Cadillac will be doing in the nearest future. Both vehicles seen at the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix had massive front splitters and a number of other, smaller body kit parts throughout.

Just what kind of engine the two prototypes had under their hoods remains a matter of speculation, but we hope it is the 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8 mill of the CT6-V.
