GM Design has shared images across its social media pages showing a cryptic well-equipped Cadillac off-roader. It would seem that the company has been busy designing a capable electric SUV lately.
The prototype shown stays in line with the Cadillac design philosophy and boasts vertical DRLs, a shield-shaped grille with the Caddy logo, and truly massive wheel arches. However, the extremely broad front clip and oversized wheels look disproportionate against the narrow windshield and the low roofline, making the entire vehicle come across as rather odd.
If this is indeed an early sketch of a forthcoming electric car, then there is little doubt it will be based on the latest EV platform known as GMC Hummer EV. The company’s roadmap provides for at least three fully electric models: the XT4, a still-unannounced family seven-seater SUV, and an international tech-heavy flagship called Lyriq (see video).
