Cadillac has officially introduced the Project GTP Hypercar LMDh, an endurance racecar qualified for the dreaded 24 Hours of Le Mans, among other things.
LMDh-class vehicles are subject to certain design limitations and technological restrictions. For one, automakers must order the chassis from one out of only four accredited suppliers; coming up with a custom design is off-limits. Cadillac chose Dallara for the job, like BMW.
Speaking about the exterior of the Project GTP, its semblance with street-legal Cadillacs is almost uncanny. Easily recognizable vertical headlights are perhaps its most recognizable feature of all.
Powering the track weapon is a hybrid powertrain that incorporates a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine and an electric motor. Performance numbers remain to be revealed.
